Overview of the Avia Shoe Company and Avia Shoe Reviews

In 1979, Jerry Stubblefield founded the AVIA shoe company in Oregon. Together with his son, Don (and engineering graduate from Stanford), the pair designed shoes that revolutionized athletic footwear. AVIA was acquired by Reebok, a company that later sold the AVIA brand to the American Sporting Goods Corporation in the late 1990s.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, AVIA was known as a leading brand for women's walking and aerobic shoes and for its line of men's sport shoes. Their significant contributions to sports footwear were the cantilever heel for support, the ARC, or Anatomical Rebound Cradle and FOM technology for shock compression and support.

The Cantilever cushioning system adds stability and shock absorption when the runners foot strikes the ground. As the shape of the Cantilever design returns to its natural state it delivers maximum energy back into the runners stride. This not only aids in comfort but also in running performance. Whether you are training for a marathon, increasing fitness through aerobic workouts, in the gym lifting weights or going for daily walks you know your AVIA shoes will ensure you perform to your maximum potential while looking stylish.

With the addition of the AVIBOLT (Light weight trainer), AVITRAIL (rugged trail shoe) and TUNED TRAINER II (second generation Tuned Trainer) the AVIA performance running line is as robust as ever. Slide into one and find out why AVIA performance running shoes will make you a believer.

The newest edition of AVIA shoes debuts in 2009 with the AVI-Rhythm, built with lightweight Microfiber, air mesh and intuitive Gore feature along the eyestay for a more precise fit. This shoe is based upon Hybrid Geometry technology, and comes in chrome silver, charcoal gray, black and pale gold.

These are the worst walking shoes that I have ever purchased. I usually purchase New Balance and I guess I will go back to New Balance.

I have been satisfied with the Avia tennis shoes that I have purchased over the years. They cost more than I could really afford but I heard them being advertised as a quality shoe so invested in a pair. I would normally pay much less for a pair of tennis shoes but it was money well spent. I'm a full figured woman who needs comfort in a shoe. I have an injured knee so when I wear them it helps to absorb the shock when walking up/down stairs or working out. Thanks for a comfortable shoe.
